Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods has been making history on and off the course since he joined the PGA Tour in 1996. First up was a record $40 million contract from Nike. The following year he won the Masters by a record 12 strokes, becoming the youngest winner ever and first black player to take the title. His career has been packed full of accomplishments, including major titles (14), annual money titles (9) and Player of the Year awards (9).
Now Woods can add one more accolade to his trophy case: the first athlete to earn $1 billion. Our calculations show that the $10 million bonus Woods earned winning this year’s FedEx Cup title nudged him over the $1 billion mark in career earnings.
Forbes has been tracking athlete earnings since before Tiger turned pro. Woods had earned a cumulative $895 million going into 2009, by our estimates, from prize money, appearance fees, endorsements, bonuses and his golf course design business. If you add his $10.5 million in 2009 prize money, the FedEx bonus and his take so far this year from his more than $100 million in annual off-the-course earnings, Woods’ career earnings are now 10 figures.

Victor en Bakkies
The record-breaking Bulls put their name in the history books with an unbelievable 61-17 victory over a hapless Chiefs team in the Super 14 Final in Pretoria on Saturday.
Not only have they become the fourth team to win more than one title – well only the fourth team to win a title – but they have rewritten the record books.
It is the biggest winning margin in a Final, by the proverbial country mile – the 44-point margin beating the 30 points (36-6) win the Brumbies posted over the Sharks in 2001. The 61 points also smashed the 47 points posted by the Brumbies in the 2004 Final.

Jake White
Jake White’s company, Winning Way, will spend time with the Lions to do a full assessment and audit on the rugby structures of the union, from senior down to junior level.
A statement by the Lions said: “There is a great deal of expertise in Jake’s company, and due to this, the GLRU feel an audit will be extremely beneficial. With the likes of Eddie Jones (winner of the Super 14 with the Brumbies), Jake White and Derek Coetzee (a World Cup winning conditioning coach), and many more, the GLRU feel confident that we will see dramatic benefits for rugby in Johannesburg.
“After the audit, White’s company will make recommendations on how they see the way forward.”
This audit follows another dismal Super 14 campaign for the Lions who have won only 11 from 38 matches over the last three years since they started playing as a individual franchise.

After an indifferent start to the 2009 IPL season , Greame Smith proved his class with a solid 77 of 44 balls with 12 fours and a six. He also shared in the best partnership of the series thusfar when Smith and Naman Ojha put on 135 runs for the first-wicket of 91 balls.
This partnership helped The Rajasthan Royals post the highest score in this year’s tournament as they crushed the Kings XI Punjab by 78 runs in their IPL match at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead on Tuesday

The Rugby Guru

Brian O'Driscoll
Leinster beat Munster in front of a world record crowd of 82,208 people at Crowk Park in the Heineken Cup Semi Final. Brian O’Driscoll accepted the man of the match award only after acknowledging the massive role played by his pack of forwards.
“It is a little bit embarrassing being made man of the match. I’ll accept on behalf of the Leinster pack because they created the platform for us to win the game,” said O’Driscoll after the game.
Leinster will play the final against the winners between Cardiff Blues and the Leicester Tigers.

Former Heavyweight Champion - Greg Page

It may be a showdown between the best in the northern hemisphere and the world champions, but don’t expect to see the world’s best referees in action when the British and Irish Lions tour South Africa.
Australian Stuart Dickinson and Frenchman Christophe Berdos have been appointed as referees for the Springboks’ three Tests in June and July.
It was then decided that neutral referees from the IRB’s high performance panel should be used. However, the majority of the referees are from South Africa or the four home unions, which only left French and Australian referees.
While Berdos has only officiated in a few Springbok Tests, Dickinson is no stranger to South Africans. He has dished out five yellow cards to Springboks and been involved in a few controversial incidents in matches South African teams played in.

Rassie Erasmus
Hoekom??
